ZIMBABWE Under-17 national soccer team coach Tafadzwa Mashiri believes the team was handed fair opponents in the COSAFA Under-17 Championships draw which was conducted in South Africa on Thursday evening. The tournament will once again be staged in the resort island for the third time running from July 19 to 29.
And the Young Warriors, who failed to progress beyond the group stages last year, have been placed in Group C together with Angola, Malawi and Swaziland.
“It is a fair draw to us given the fact that we didn’t perform well last year due to poor preparations and we are looking forward to doing much better this year.
“We must progress to the knockout stages.
‘’There is need for improved preparations compared to what we did last year,” he said.
Mashiri, a teacher by profession, has bounced back at the helm of the Young Warriors after assisting Moses “Bambo” Chunga last year.
