A 30-year-old man yesterday appeared in court facing three counts of fraud after he allegedly used a fake University of Zimbabwe Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences degree to obtain employment at two top Harare medical centres.
Willard Marko of Number 10594 Zengeza 4, Chitungwiza, was arrested after he applied for a job at the Medical Laboratory and Clinical Council of Zimbabwe when it was discovered that his degree was fake.
He appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe charged with fraud. Mr Mahwe deferred the matter to today for judgment.
Prosecutor Ms Idah Maromo alleges that Marko had previously secured jobs at Corporate 24 Emergency Hospital and CIMAS Medical Laboratories where he earned $450 and $1 000 respectively at different times. He allegedly used a fake Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences University of Zimbabwe (Upper Second Class) degree and a fake academic transcript and was successful.
