Fake landlord dupes four homeseekers

A MAN from Bulawayo’s Mabutweni suburb has been arrested for leasing a house that does not belong to him, prejudicing four home seekers of $280 in the process.

Mthokozisi Ndebele (33) allegedly masqueraded as the owner of a house in Mabutweni suburb which belongs to his grandfather.

Ndebele allegedly duped four people Mr Banele Ncube (42), Mr Frank Sibanda (30), Ms Sfikile Ncube (40) and Ms Nomthandazo Nkiwane (21) of $70 each.

He pleaded not guilty to four counts of fraud before Western Commonage magistrate Ms Tancy Dube and was remanded in custody to today for continuation of trial.

For the State, Mr Chief Muteve said Ndebele allegedly committed the offences between October 27 and November 2 this year.

In total, Ndebele duped the four complainants of $280.—@sharonbuwe
