A KEZI family have been living in agony after they took over a family farm much to the rage of a neighbouring family that have used their power to try and drive out the family from the said farm.
Mthabisi Ntimeni took over the farm that is located in Mazwi village in Kezi from his family most of which are now old and can no longer man the land.
Despite turning the fortunes at the farm and his family being the known owners of the land, Ntimeni faced resistance from the Ncube family who stayed in the same village, who after seeing the performance of the farm now wanted to use their political influence to forcibly grab it.
The Ncube family is known to be linked with the ruling Zanu-PF party
According to village source, Ntimeni and his wife Faith Dube have since being targeted by the Ncube family and their accomplices to frustrate the family out of the said farm.
“This all started with these Ncubes realised that Ntimeni was fast turning the tide at the farm, with successful yields being recorded. They then started to inform Ntimeni and his wife that they were not supposed to be operating at this farm.
“It got out of hand when Ntimeni was assaulted and left for dead by unknown assailants who we strongly suspect to be linked to the Ncube family, from that day he was visibly traumatised and even confessed that he feared for his life. One day he just disappeared, walk up one morning, as if he was going to do farm chores, but he just disappeared and it is not known where he went to,” said the villager on condition of anonymity.
After Ntimeni’s disappearance, the villager, who is also related to the family, revealed that the attacks then turned to his wife, Faith Dube.
“Dube was accused of hiding her husband, at one point she was almost attacked by a group of people who said they wanted her to reveal the whereabouts of Ntimeni. It is so bad that these people are being attacked for a farm which is known to belong to their family. As we speak, Dube has also disappeared and we are not even sure where she went to as even her mobile phones are not going through,”
