Family Feud: Emganwini community on edge amid scandal and disappearance

In a shocking turn of events in Emganwini, the Dube family has publicly condemned their son-in-law, Themba Ncube, for allegedly abandoning their daughter, Phumzile Dube, to pursue a gay relationship with Denis Kapote, a man Ncube initially referred to as a friend.

The Dube family, comprised of prominent Zanu-PF members and war veterans, expressed outrage over what they perceive as a betrayal that has tarnished their family’s image.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Phumzile’s uncle stated, “Themba’s actions deeply anger us. He has disrespected our daughter and flaunted his gay relationship in our faces. We want to deal with him for his shame on our family.” The family has accused Ncube and Kapote of attempting to introduce a taboo culture into their community, further escalating tensions.

“This is an illegal and taboo act in our country and culture, we won’t rest until they are brought to justice. Honestly, what will our children do when they see two men kissing, this is something that has to be dealt with severely as a community,” said the uncle.

However, neighbours paint a different picture. A resident, Mrs Moyo, revealed that Phumzile had left their matrimonial home under unclear circumstances before the allegations of Ncube’s relationship with Kapote came to light.

“As far as we know, it was Phumzile who ditched Themba first. The situation is complicated, and we are all concerned about what has happened since then,” Mrs Moyo said.

The Dube family, known for their influential connections within the Zanu-PF and local law enforcement, has reportedly harassed Ncube following the allegations. The most recent incident occurred a few days before Christmas on December 21, leading to concerns for Ncube’s safety.

Since then, he has gone missing, leaving the community speculating whether his disappearance is linked to the Dube family’s actions.

“Ncube was attacked on 21 December, this follows numerous other attacks led by Phumuzile’s uncle who is based in South Africa. Now Ncube has disappeared, we don’t know whether he went into hiding or the Dube family is linked to his disappearance as they have vowed to deal with him,” said Mrs Moyo.

Days later, a group of guys were reportedly seen and heard shouting insults and throwing stones at his home, hitting the gate and walls, showing their threatening behaviour.

With tensions escalating and concerns for Ncube’s safety mounting, the Emganwini community remains on edge as the situation unfolds. The Dube family’s strong political ties and the implications of their actions suggest that this story is far from over.

Contacted for comment, the police said the country’s law is clear on Ncube and Kapote’s behaviour. They said they will follow up on the story and do their investigation per the rules and laws of the country.
