THE tight-knit community of Sezhubane village in Gwanda, Matabeleland South Province, is reeling with worry as one family makes a heartfelt appeal for the public’s help in locating their missing relative, Lesedi Khumalo (28), and her daughter, Mapule Khumalo (8).

The duo went missing under mysterious circumstances, leaving their loved ones in distress and seeking answers.

According to a family member who wished to remain anonymous, Lesedi had embarked on a journey to Bulawayo in search of employment, accompanied by her friend, Memory Chayabadi. The relative disclosed that Lesedi had kept in touch initially, informing them that they had made contact with a businesswoman known as “Sis Joy” in Bulawayo. Sis Joy was said to be an active member of the ruling Zanu-PF party.

In a shocking turn of events, Lesedi reportedly shared with her family that Sis Joy had offered them job opportunities in South Africa, promising that the position would also accommodate their children.

The last communication received from Lesedi and Memory was when they informed their families that they were planning to travel to South Africa for the prospective job placements.

Since then, all attempts to reach Lesedi, Memory, and Sis Joy have been met with silence, with their mobile phones appearing unreachable. The family’s growing unease and desperation were palpable as they revealed their struggles in trying to ascertain the whereabouts and well-being of their missing loved ones.

“We are deeply worried about Lesedi and Mapule. They were determined to secure a better future, but now we fear for their safety and the unknown circumstances surrounding their sudden disappearance,” the family member expressed with a heavy heart.

Furthermore, their efforts to contact Sis Joy for information on Lesedi’s whereabouts have also been unsuccessful, exacerbating the family’s distress and uncertainty.

The family is appealing to anyone with knowledge of Lesedi and Mapule’s whereabouts or any relevant details about their situation to come forward and assist in reuniting them with their loved ones. The community has rallied behind the family, expressing solidarity and echoing the urgent need for a concerted effort to locate Lesedi and Mapule.

As the search intensifies and the family clings to hope for any information that could lead to the safe return of Lesedi and Mapule, the public is urged to come forward with any details or leads that could aid in unraveling this perplexing mystery and reuniting the mother and daughter with their desperate family in Sezhubane village.
