The family of Sisasenkosi Pugeni from Gwanda is urgently seeking information after she went missing under mysterious circumstances, sparking fears for her safety.
A close family member expressed deep concern about Sisasenkosi’s wellbeing.
“We are very worried about her safety. She disappeared suddenly, and we have no idea where she is,” the relative said.
The family revealed that Sisasenkosi had been part of a group of youths who previously complained about being forced by suspected members of the ruling Zanu-PF party and the Mthwakazi Republic Party to walk from their rural homes to Gwanda town.
Once in town, they were coerced into attending political rallies and campaigning for these two parties.
“Sisasenkosi confided in some of her friends that she was not comfortable with this. She is a devout Christian attending the Seventh Day Adventist church and she constantly said that she does not support any political party,” the family member added.
Despite their discomfort, the youths were reportedly terrified to refuse participation or report the coercion to authorities for fear of repercussions.
In the days leading up to her disappearance, Sisasenkosi reportedly told friends she did not feel safe in the village. Since then, her whereabouts have remained unknown.
“We are worried because even when we reported to the police no one is willing to assist us, hence our frustration,” said the relative.
