THE new Warriors bus has gone viral and fans have saluted the development, saying it boosts the side’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

The bus, which is branded “Warriors” and “Driven by Ecobank” and has just arrived in the country, was sponsored by the financial institution and has been breaking the internet.

This comes as the Warriors are set to resume their AFCON qualifiers with back-to-back matches against Equatorial Guinea, with the first away match on 13 November in Cameroon and the reverse fixture at the National Sports Stadium four days later.

Zimbabwe National Supporters Association president Joseph Mutawu said the gesture sets a strong precedent for corporate involvement in domestic sports development.

“For a long time, seeing our national team moving around in borrowed club buses did not reflect the prestige of representing Zimbabwe. Ecobank has stepped up at a crucial time to restore the dignity of our football,” said Mutawu.

“As supporters, we are truly humbled and we hope other corporate entities follow this magnificent example.”

Popular Warriors supporter Richard Sande, popularly known as ‘CheMhofela’, said the development brings pride and professional flair to the national set-up.

“This is a massive boost for Zimbabwean football. Wearing the national colours comes with pride and having a custom, high-end luxury bus completes that professional image. Big kudos to Ecobank for making this reality,” said Sande.

Francis Kaowa, another ardent follower of the Warriors, pointed out that reliable transportation will also boost player morale.

“Travelling in comfort is essential for athlete recovery and mental focus. The days of struggling to secure local transport or feeling out of place on foreign soil are over. The bank has done a wonderful thing for our boys and, as fans, we are extremely thankful,” Kaowa noted.

Renowned supporter Chris ‘Romario’ Musekiwa said: “A dedicated luxury coach gives our team a sense of identity, professionalism and pride before they even step onto the pitch. We celebrate Ecobank for answering the call and standing by the nation.”
