Fans slam Ronaldo’s walkout

MANCHESTER. — Manchester United fans have slammed Cristiano Ronaldo for storming down the tunnel before full-time against Tottenham on Wednesday night and have labelled him “a petulant child” for doing so.

The United superstar was an unused substitute as Erik ten Hag’s side ripped Spurs apart and cruised to a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford. In dramatic fashion, he left the dugout before the final whistle had gone.

Users on social media have now hit back at the United No. 7 for his actions and claimed that he’s “tarnished” his legacy at the club.

After Ronaldo’s early exit, one fan wrote: “Ronaldo is a disgrace 37 years of age and storming off like a petulant child.”

“Ronaldo is spoiling his reputation with United he is a legend but it now tarnished and that’s the sad thing what will he be remembered for by young fans,” another said.

His legacy was a recurring theme, with one user saying: “Ronaldo should leave Manchester United for the sake of himself, his legacy and the club too.”

One user claimed that the forward’s attitude could cause issues for the squad, writing: “Ronaldo’s a disgrace! At this point he’s just making problems for ETH”.

The forward has made headlines in recent months regarding his displeasure at a lack of minutes at the club after trying to secure a move away from the club.

One fan attempted to rejoiced in the victory but was unhappy with the forward’s reaction. He wrote: ”Such a good win and this Ronaldo fella had to spoil the celebrations.”

There were some brutal takes on Ronaldo’s actions, with one fan claiming: “Unpopular opinion. Ronaldo is the most SELFISH athlete in the history of sports.”

“Never thought I’d say this as one of the biggest United/CR7 fans but Ronaldo can kick rocks, he’s washed and selfish,” another said.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has been dropped for Manchester United’s trip to Chelsea tomorrow as punishment.

He is now expected to train away from the first-team squad.

A club statement read: “Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”

With Ronaldo on the bench against Liverpool, Arsenal and now Spurs, games United have won with increasing proficiency, it’s clear the club’s transition to life without him is already under way. His petulance will only speed that up. — Mailonline.
