AS the ITF NetOne tennis tournament reaches its climax, the top athletes were tested with fans treated to a spectacle at Harare Sports Club in the doubles final and two singles semi-finals.
Boy Westerhof from Netherlands beat Arthur Surreaux from France in straight sets 7-6, 6-4 to reach the singles’ final.

This is the second consecutive final Westerhof will be taking part in since his visit to Zimbabwe at the beginning of last week’s tournament.

Antal Van Der Duim made it an all-Dutch affair in the final by beating Tucker Vorster of South Africa 6-1, 6-4.

Van Der Duim and Westerhof know each other well as opponents and teammates.

As doubles partners they have won 10 titles in the past two years, including the ITF Twenty Third Century Systems tournament.

Today’s final at the Harare Sports Club promises to be a big day for tennis as there will be some good tennis on display between two very good and technical players.

In the last match of the day, the doubles title was up for grabs.

France Arthur Surreaux and Gregoirre Barrere beat Keith-Patrick Crowley and Ruan Roelofse from South Africa 6-1, 6-2 victory.

Westerhof (29) is currently ranked 271 in the world and if he wins the final he could go as high as 240 because of the 27 points on offer.

His career-high ranking was 201 in 2008.
