SELECT Healthcare tennis tournament director Farai Tapfuma says they are happy with the improvements they witnessed in the just-ended event held at Harare Sports Club. The four-day competition ended on Sunday with the top seeds in the Under-16 to Under-18 age group, Ngoni Makambwa and Beverly Matsiwe, emerging winners in the boys and girls categories.Tapfuma said they were impressed with the turnout and the quality of play displayed by the participants.
“For the competition, it was a competitive tournament compared to last year. You will find that most of the top players in the boys Under-18 were there and the girls as well.
“Most of the players going to the Zonals were also there, so it was a successful event,” said Tapfuma.
Tapfuma said for next year they were hoping to have the tournament moved to August to attract more players.
