A security guard who allegedly struck his wife’s lover with an axe has appeared in court charged with attempted murder.
Tapiwa Matambo (31) of Hopley Farm was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Clever Tsikwa on Wednesday.
Mr Tsikwa advised Matambo to apply for bail at the High Court due to the gravity of the charge he is facing.
The State, led by prosecutor Mr Robert Marwa, alleges that on February 11 at around 2pm, Matambo’s wife called Nelson Shambira (26) to her place of residence.
It is alleged that Shambira’s wife followed and found the two together.
The matter reportedly reached Matambo’s ears, who went to Shambira’s house the following day wielding an axe, the court heard. He is alleged to have struck Shambira on the head before punching him.
A police report was made leading to Matambo’s arrest. – CR.
