Thabani Chagona Mushambi (26), or Sir Rebel as he is known in the clothing design industry, is on a mission to take his Sir Rebel Clothing label to greater heights in 2014.
The stylist began designing back in primary school with a brand called Unlimited Rules, which he later developed into a T-shirt making business in 2010 up to 2013.
Mushambi believes that his inspiration is God-given, thus his unique style of design which he claims is self-taught.
“I had no one to teach me how to design, I did not know anything and I did not want to produce any copycat clothing, so I prayed one day and sure enough I dreamt of some designs which I sketched when I woke up the next day,” he said.
To date Sir Rebel has made designs for several clothing outlets in Harare including t-shirt branding for Great Gear Clothing, clothing designs for Laurel Creations as well as being a part of the Miss World Heritage 2013 designing crew.
The clothing designer makes formal and informal clothes for both men and women, with an emphasis on patchwork, especially in the male clothing lines.
“My trademark is a scotch patchwork and on those clothes without scotch I tend to do an alternative kind of blending to add variety,” he added.
Mushambi is the second born in a family of three boys, and he currently lives in Zengeza 5 in Chitungwiza where his business is also based.
He looks forward to participate in more fashion events in 2014 as his label continues to attract more attention especially amongst the fashion-conscious youths in urban areas of the country.
“With God continuing to bless me, I see myself achieving even more things in this year as more companies come on board to support Sir Rebel Clothing and more exposure in the form of pageants and other shows,” he said.
