A 15-YEAR-OLD school girl from Mpekema village in Gokwe allegedly gave birth to a baby boy sired by her own biological father who raped her twice, a court has heard.
Appearing before Provincial Magistrate Sithabile Zungula facing two counts of rape was the 44-year-old man whose name we are withholding to protect the identity of the girl. He was not asked to plead when he briefly appeared before Zungula on Friday last week.
The man was remanded in custody to October 23 for plea recording. Prosecuting, Mary Chapinda, told the court that on October 6 last year, the man sneaked into his daughter’s bedroom hut at night and raped her once without using protection.
The court heard that after raping his daughter, the man threatened her with death before sneaking out of the bedroom hut. The girl, the court heard, kept the ordeal to herself.
Chapinda said sometime in December last year, the man sneaked into his daughter’s bedroom hut and raped her again. The court heard that the girl fell pregnant but still did not tell anyone about the abuse.
Chapinda told the court all hell broke loose when the girl gave birth.
“The girl gave birth to a baby boy on August 5 this year. Upon being asked who the father of the baby was, the girl revealed the abuse she suffered at her father’s hands,” said Chapinda.
The court heard she revealed that her father raped her twice and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
The prosecutor said the matter was reported to the police leading to the man’s arrest.
