A 38-YEAR-OLD Chitungwiza man was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly raping his mentally-challenged daughter since January this year.
The man separated with his wife sometime in 2024, when the daughter was 10 years old.
His daughter went with her mother to stay in Kariba but later relocated to Chitungwiza to stay with her father.
On unknown dates, the father is alleged to have raped her on several occasions.
The matter came to light last week when police received a tip-off that the man was sexually abusing his daughter.
She was interviewed and she disclosed the sexual abuse.
“Police referred her to Chitungwiza Central Hospital for medical examinations and the father was arrested,” said one of the neighbours.
National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, could not be reached for comment.
However, H-Metro is reliably informed that the case was reported at Zengeza Police Station under RRB 6851690.
In another related case, a nine-year-old schoolgirl was raped by her stepfather in Stoneridge.
On an unknown date, but sometime during this month, the minor arrived home from school.
The complainant’s mother and grandmother had gone to church.
After the schoolgirl finished changing her clothes, the stepfather pounced on her and raped her once without protection.
The matter came to light last week when the schoolgirl’s mother noticed a whitish discharge on the schoolgirl’s panties while preparing to bath her.
She asked their landlady to interview the schoolgirl who disclosed the rape, leading to the arrest.
