UNDER-FIRE Dynamos coach, Genesis Mangombe’s future at the popular Harare giants was plunged deeper into darkness after suffering defeat against former champions, FC Platinum in a Castle Lager Premiership match at Mandava yesterday.
FC Platinum secured all the points courtesy of a 61st minute goal from Wilfred Muvirimi, who finished off a pass from Brian Banda.
The result saw the miners take their points tally to 28, one behind log leaders Manica Diamonds who edged bottom placed Hwange 1-0.
On the other hand, Dynamos stayed seventh with 19 points after being awarded the abandoned match against Chegutu Pirates on a 3-0 scoreline in a ruling made public on Friday evening.
Mangombe went into the game at the back of a demonstration by supporters in their 2-1 win over newcomers Arenel Movers at Rufaro on Thursday.
A section of the Dynamos fans feels they are not going anywhere with Mangombe as he is only targeting newcomers for victory while dropping points against established teams, FC Platinum being the latest.
Mangombe felt the supporters were hired as part of the infighting at the club.
At Sakubva Stadium, Manica Diamonds’ top man Fortune Binzi’s 82nd minute strike was all that the hosts needed to outplay Hwange in an exciting Castle Lager Premiership encounter at Sakubva Stadium yesterday.
It was a balanced affair from the onset of the encounter and Hwange were visibly a much improved side, a suggestion that new coach Rodwell Dhlakama’s impact is already being felt.
Manica Diamonds coach Jairos Tapera commended his squad for maintaining the fine run.
“I am really happy with the way that these boys are applying themselves as each match comes. We are playing according to instruction and that is all I can ask for as a coach. We are now focused on our next match with the same ambition in mind,” he said
