FC Platinum 4-0 Yadah FC
FC Platinum were all over Yadah FC in the Chibuku Super Cup first round match played at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane yesterday.
The Platinum boys played with zest and deservingly won the tie to move to the next round of the tournament after indifferent results in the league in recent weeks in which they donated maximum points to Sheasham and Simba Bhora with identical margins of 2-1.
It became apparent that the contest would be a game of numbers after Yadah’s Faranando Marvelous was red-carded in the 12th minute. In the 27th minute FC Platinum took the lead through a Walter Musona penalty, their first spot kick of the season.
With FC Platinum dominating play and stretching their opponents, Yadah were forced to play a chasing game as they sought to cover the gaps because of their numerical deficiency.
Juan Mutudza made it 2-0 soon after his second half introduction.
FC Platinum were fired up with Panashe Mutimbanyoka coming close to scoring. Yadah FC substituted Mandlenkosi Mlilo for Brazilian David de Brito and there were high hopes that would be the match’s turning point.
Some could be overheard saying “Bhora Ratanga” wishing the samba flavor would spin around the game.
Soon after the departure of Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya for Perfect Chikwende in the 63rd minute another penalty was given to the home team and executioner in charge Musona converted. With the scoreline 3-0, Yadah seemed to have lost hope. In the 80th minute man of the match, Walter Musona made it 4-0 from open play.
