FC PLATINUM finally remembered how to win after the Zvishavane-based outfit put four goals past a hapless Yadah in the first round of the Chibuku Super Cup at Mandava Stadium yesterday.

A hat-trick from reigning Soccer Star of the Year Walter Musona and Juan Mutudza secured the win for Norman Mapeza’s boys, who played with zest and deservedly moved to the next round of the tournament.

This is unlike their league form in which they lost to Sheasham and Simba Bhora by identical margins of 1-2.

FC Platinum’s job was made easier by Yadah’s Faranando Marvelous’ red card in the 12th minute.

They took the lead through a Walter Musona penalty, which was incidentally their first spot-kick of the season.

With FC Platinum dominating play and stretching their opponents, Yadah were forced to chase the game.

Mutudza made it 2-0 soon after his second-half introduction.

Yadah FC substituted Mandlenkosi Mlilo for Brazilian David de Brito, and there were high hopes that this would be the match’s turning point.

Some Yadah fans could be overheard singing “Bhora Ratanga”  in anticipation that the samba flavour would turn the game around.

Soon after Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya came in for Perfect Chikwende in the 63rd minute, FC Platinum were awarded another penalty.

Again, Musona stepped up and converted.

Yadah seemed to have lost hope.

Walter Musona then capped his hat-trick in the 80th minute from open play.
