MIDFIELDER Wellington Kamudyariwa was the only notable addition to the FC Platinum squad as the miners moved to beat the Confederation of African Football’s registration deadline by naming their Confederation Cup side.
FC Platinum released a 25-man squad that will do duty next month when the Chibuku Super Cup winners begin their Confederation Cup campaign with an away trip to Sofapaka of Kenya.
Norman Mapeza’s men will visit the East African country for a preliminary round, first leg assignment on the weekend of February14-15 with the return leg scheduled for Mandava two weeks later.
An elated Kamudyariwa, who arrived from across town rivals Shabanie Mine, said he was relishing the opportunity of playing continental football.
“I feel great to have joined Platinum because they are a professional side. I had always wanted to be coached by Mapeza (Norman) because he played football at a higher level.
“It is one of the biggest steps in my career and I pray that one day I will find myself playing abroad and if I fail to make it I will join the great trek to South Africa. I just want to make an impact at Platinum,” said Kamudyariwa.
The 21-year-old player, who scored four goals for Shabanie Mine last season, is expecting to be at Platinum for at least two seasons but he would have to improve in the initial year before he can be granted an extension.
There was also a surprise inclusion in the form of Emmanuel Mandiranga, who joined the miners from Northern Region Division One outfit DC Academy on a one-year contract.
