FC Platinum 2-1 Caps United
DEFENDING Castle Lager Premiership champions FC Platinum edged visiting Caps United in a Castle Lager Premiership soccer tie played at Mandava Stadium yesterday afternoon.
Pure Platinum started the match on the driving seat, taking the lead through an own goal by Godknows Murwira, the Caps United defender who beat his own goalkeeper in a bid to clear in the eighth minute.
Jarrison Seremani took a corner kick and Juan Mutudza hit the ball towards goal and the ball ricocheted off Murwira’s boot into his own nets. Given the history between the two coaches Lloyd Chitembwe and Norman Mapeza, both teams were a little bit cautious but would try to attack on the break. It was an action packed clash.
Blessing Sarupinda brought parity with a powerful shot in the 27th minute to take the teams to the break on equal terms.
Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya and Jarrison Selemani did most of the running and exciting attacking in the first half of the match for the home team with Phineas Bamusi and Tonderai Mateyaunga holding the fort for Caps United.

Ngwenya had Caps backpedaling for most of the game causing the visiting defenders to panic.
He returned to haunt Caps United scoring the winner in the 61st minute after capitalising from a defensive mix up. With Caps United huffing and puffing to balance to fend off the home team’s challenge, Mateyaunga proved that he is among the best with some good goalkeeping as he on numerous occasions shut out FC Platinum. FC Platinum are now eight points behind log leaders Ngezi Platinum who beat stubborn Manica Diamonds 1-0.
