Felgate’s rude awakening

The global sports showdown explodes into life with an official opening on July 27.
“I had a great swim and came out the water close to the front,” Felgate said.

“After 10km’s into the bike I was battling with some breathing issues and lost the front pack.
“I then rode with the second group but by the time we got to the run I was struggling with these issues (breathing).
“I finished a disappointing 43rd but at least I (now) know what I can work on for London. It was harder in terms of competition.

“The course was also a lot harder so it definitely gave me a good idea on the level of the competition in London.”
Triathlon is a multi-sport involving three continuous and sequential endurance events.
While many variations exist, triathlon, in its most popular form, involves swimming, cycling and running in immediate succession over various distances.
