SOUTH Africa-based music promoter and entrepreneur Philani Dube says Feli Nandi is the NUMBER ONE artist in Zimbabwe right now.

Dube, who runs Gumption Inc. Entertainment and iDube Wines, told Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub that he has been following the diva’s development since her days as a backing vocalist for Ashton “Mbeu” Nyahora.

Feli is set to perform in Johannesburg at the Hard Rock Cafe on August 16.

The show has been dubbed “A Night With Feli Nandi.”

“Feli Nandi is currently the number one trending Zimbabwean artist,” said Dube.

“She has a remarkable stage presence, an engaging ambiance and delivers her performances with skill.

“Johannesburg audiences can look forward to an electrifying evening filled with Feli Nandi’s signature blend of soulful melodies, powerful vocals and authentic Zimbabwean rhythms.

‘This performance promises to be a unique celebration of Zimbabwe’s rich musical and cultural heritage.”

Dube has over a decade of experience in the industry.

He has worked with many Zimbabwean artists, including Mbeu, Diana Samkange, Killer T, Nox, Dadza D, and Basil Makombe.

Dube recalled his first encounter when Feli at a show at his old joint, Macanudo Cigar Lounge, in Sandton.

“Even then, I knew she was destined for greatness. She has always been a hard worker who takes her craft seriously.”

Dube said she was the right candidate for their sixth edition of the Saturday Live Nights in August.

Blown away by the success of her “Vasika VeMarokwe” movement, which they incorporated into the dress code theme of her upcoming show, Dube said:

“iDube Wines, which is launching soon, is created out of preserving not only my immediate Dubes (Samaitas, Tembos, Mapungwanas, Mhlangas, Mutasas, etc.) family but also the entire Zebra totem bearers across the globe.

“So with iconic Zebra totem bearers like Tete Feli Nandi herself, ‘VaManjenjenje’, it will be fitting to have her as our brand ambassador.

“We shall be tying down those loose ends in the near future.”

This growing interest underscores the importance of artists like Feli who also serve as cultural ambassadors.

Feli confirmed the tour.

“I am ready for the tour in August. We are pushing hard to make an international breakthrough. I am looking forward to the August show and my management has finalised everything.

“I am willing to work with the promoter and will be guided by my management team.”
