FELI Nandi has turned a Mutare couple’s real life love story into a musical tribute which celebrates a wife who stood by her husband after a stroke left him bedridden.
The song, titled “Ndiwe,” is accompanied by a music video featuring Wadzanai and Lloyd Nyakunu, whose relationship has been tested by illness, and the challenges that come with caring for a loved one.
Lloyd suffered a major stroke that left him bedridden.
But his wife, Wadzanai, cared for him through his recovery and continues to support him.
Their story has now inspired Feli Nandi to celebrate the kind of love that remains strong even during difficult times.
The singer said the project was inspired by Lloyd’s public tribute to his wife, in which he expressed gratitude for the love and care she had shown him, despite his health challenges.
In his tribute, Lloyd used Feli Nandi’s song “Ndobatirira” to express his appreciation for Wadzanai’s commitment to him.
Feli said the team felt it was important to tell the couple’s story again through “Ndiwe,”giving their experience a new musical expression.
“Video features a real couple Wadzanai and Lloyd Nyakunu from Mutare.
“As a way to celebrate and appreciate his wife, Lloyd Nyakunu posted a love tribute appreciating her for the unconditional love she has for him, even after he suffered a major stroke that left him bedridden.”
She said that Wadzanai nursed her husband back to health and continues to stand by him.
“Wadza nursed him back to health and continues to be there for him against all odds,” she said.
Feli said the couple’s story inspired the decision to create another song around their relationship.
“In his tribute, Lloyd used our other song ‘Ndobatirira’, so we felt it would be beautiful to tell their love story again in this song ‘Ndiwe’,” she said.
The singer described the new release as a tribute to “true, selfless and unconditional love”.
Through the song and video, Feli brings attention to the sacrifices that come with standing by a partner during illness and other life challenges.
For the couple, the music video offers an opportunity to share their experience with a wider audience, while celebrating the woman who remained by her husband’s side during a difficult period.
The song adds to the singer’s musical catalogue, while using a real-life experience to explore love, gratitude and commitment.
