Female artists wanted for ‘Molly Street’

Arts Reporter
Complete Arts Project is calling for female theatre artists to audition for an upcoming production titled “Molly Street”.

The writer and director Peter Churu said “Molly Street” is about a woman of grits who is survivor. “We are looking for a visual artist who can dance, is not intimidated by exhibitionism and is comfortable with space, self and various creative mediums. She should also be able to commit for a very long project starting immediately,” said Churu.

Auditions will be held at Afrikera Dance Studio this Friday starting at 10 am. Afrikera Dance Studio is on top floor of the old Meikles Store and is accessed through Robert Mugabe Road.

Churu said “Molly Street” is a funded production and he expects professional conduct from all practitioners involved. Invited guests who included National Arts Council director Elvas Mari, diplomats, musician Hope Masike and others were treated to a preview of the play last Friday evening at Afrikera Dance Studio.

Mercy Nhauranwa took on the role of Molly for the evening following a week long workshop with dramaturgy consultant Chanje Kunda who had flown in from the UK courtesy of the British Council in Zimbabwe.
