A play that comically explores the effects of social media will be staged from today to Friday at Theatre in the Park. Titled “Fesbhuku”, the play will be staged to fund-raise for actor Teddy Mangawa’s trip to the US where he has been accepted on part scholarship at Dell’ arte US 2016 /7 Project. The play is based on an exciting storyline that begins when social media comes to Mabhonzo Growth Point. Marvellous, an indigenous business person running Mabhonzo Kitchen with his friend Matthew, is obsessed with Facebook.Now he has lost his Facebook password which he keeps written on a piece of paper. Marvellous is now running around the growth point trying to find the garbage truck which he believes has the piece of paper with his password as he doesn’t know how to recover the password from Facebook.
Marvellous has just one wish, to make a massive post on his wall that his wife and friend feel is dangerous to the safety of the family. But in this funny and witty play, Marvellous is determined. And no one will stop him!
The play features some of the best actors in theatre that include Mangawa, Nyasha Chagonda, Charles Matare, Everson Ndlovu and Rumbidzai Karize.
Below are brief biographies of the cast:
Teddy Mangawa

Mangawa is one of the most sought for artistes in Zimbabwe. He began his career with the Mabvuku Cultural Drama Club in 2007 and extended his work from community work to film and television acting. Teddy is currently working with a competent performing artiste, a theatre for development practitioner, a drama facilitator and theatre skills trainer. He also has extensive experience in using drama to raise awareness on human rights and other social issues. He won the Best Actor Award at NAMA 2011 and has played significant roles in productions such as “Election Day”, “Hold my Hand”, “No Loans for us Without us”, “Simudzai Mureza”, “Colours of Dreams”, “Lobola” and “Suburb D”.
Nyasha Chagonda
Nyasha (29) is a graduate from the University of Zimbabwe. Her breakthrough began with “Ozidi” directed by Patience Tawengwa in 2009 and she has become a seasoned actress of most community theatre plays. On the big stage she has featured in “No Loans for us Without us”, “Hold My Hand” and “SimudzaiMureza”. She was also the make-up artiste in “A Christmas Carol” in 2008, a production by Theory X. She also performed in the play “Oedipus” at HIFA in 2009 and she is part of the 2011 original cast of “Fesbhuku”.
Charles Matare

One of Zimbabwe’s top actor for film, TV and theatre, Matate won the Best Actor Award at NAMA 2013 for his sterling performance in “Intimate Affairs”. He took part in Shimmer Chinodya’s “Harvest of Thorns” and was Best Director in the 24-hour theatre competition at Hifa. Charles has earned his place amongst the best of Zimbabwe’s actors through blending experience with talent delivering top notch performances.
Everson Ndlovu
A graduate of Theory X Media Company in Performing Arts, Eveson has been performing since 2003 featuring in productions such as “Conquered Plans”, “Allegations” and “Standing in Pairs” amongst countless others. Currently he teaches Physical Theatre at Afrikera Professional Dance Company.
Rumbidzai Karize
She made her professional debut in “Burn Mukwerekwere” and proceeded to feature in 365 (a Rooftop Promotions production) before being recognised for her top drawer performance in “When Angels Weep” with a NAMA Nomination, followed by another NAMA nomination in “Convert”. She acted in “Looking Into the Abyss” and is the lead talent in the soon to be released international film, “Something Nice from London”.
