FIFA have urged ZIFA to reconsider life bans imposed on COSAFA president Philip Chiyangwa and the association’s former vice president, Omega Sibanda.

ZIFA banned Chiyangwa and Sibanda from all football activities in August and advised the world football governing body of their decision.

And, FIFA have recommended the domestic football leaders to review their decisions.

“ZIFA informed FIFA, by letter on September 13th, of its decision regarding the life ban of Philip Chiyangwa and Omega Sibanda,’’ a FIFA spokesperson said in response to questions emailed to the Zurich-based organisation.

‘’Referring to the relevant provisions of the ZIFA statutes, FIFA has recommended that the ZIFA executive committee assess again this decision at its next meeting.’’

Both Chiyangwa and Sibanda were accused of compromising the administration of the game in this country.

ZIFA also claimed the duo could have disturbed the Warriors camp during the 2019 AFCON finals.

Sibanda also faced separate charges.

“Sibanda was banned for life following his incessant interference with ZIFA judicial bodies during which he sought to influence a ZIFA lawyer to throw away a Zifa electoral case, in a bid to foment turmoil,” wrote ZIFA chief executive Joseph Mamutse in a statement.

CAF have since appointed Sibanda to be the match commissioner during the 2020 Africa Futsal Cup of Nations qualifier between Angola and Zambia in Luanda on October 29.

Sipho Mahlangu and Cedric Tshililo Muvhali will be the two referees with Hilario Vincente Almoco coming in as the time ‘keeper.

The 2020 Africa Futsal Cup of Nations will be the sixth edition of the quadrennial international futsal championship organised by CAF the continent’s men’s national teams.

The tournament will be held in Morocco between 17–26 April 2020.

The tourney also act as the CAF qualifiers for the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania where three African teams will take part.
