A FAULTY sauna was reportedly what sparked a fire that blazed through the home of Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr.
The former Ballon d’Or winner was away on international duty with Brazil when the blaze took hold at his mansion.
Spanish authorities confirmed they were called to a property in the upmarket neighbourhood of La Moraleja, which lies north of Madrid in Alcobendas.
Firefighters rushed to the scene at 11am on Thursday morning to battle a fire at Vinicius Jr’s pad, with the blaze fully extinguished an hour later.
It’s believed a mechanical fault with the electrics of a basement sauna was responsible for the flames.
According to Spanish outlet AS, the sauna was “completely destroyed” by the inferno.
Meanwhile, the rest of Vinicius Jr’s house was filled with smoke, resulting in heavy damage elsewhere.
Fortunately, authorities confirmed that nobody was injured or suffered smoke inhalation.
But they are continuing to examine the exact fault of the sauna while also keeping on eye on any further damage.
