PROPERTY worth ZiG151 251 was destroyed when a hardware shop situated at Cowdray Park terminus was gutted by fire in the early hours of Tuesday.
The fire started from a brazier with lit charcoal that was left unattended.
The Bulawayo Fire Brigade received a fire emergency call just after 0130hrs and rushed to the site, managing to save property worth over ZiG300 000, according to the Bulawayo City Chief Fire Officer Mr Mhlangano Moyo.
“We attended a property fire at Cowdray Park Terminus. Spring Hare hardware shop was burnt overnight and the cause of the fire was a brazier with lit charcoal left unattended that ignited combustible materials in the shop,” said Mr Moyo.
Some of the burnt materials include tiles, paint and other building materials but there were no human casualties.
