She was seen by other vendors who were on their way to buy their wares in town.
They then reported the bizarre incident to a police officer who stays in the same suburb.
She was taken home, with furious neighbours desiring to mete out instant justice on her.
The woman believed to be in her early 50s is a firewood vendor at the shopping centre.
When Chronicle visited her home yesterday morning, the woman was away as she was said to have been taken to Magwegwe Police Station by a neighbourhood watch committee member and some residents.
Stunned residents said they are now living in fear of the woman. Others suspect that she uses juju to take money from her colleagues at the market place.
An eyewitness, who identified herself as maMoyo, and is a vendor and local resident, claims to have spotted Mrs Mlauzi thrice walking naked, alone at around the same place and time.
“I always catch this woman naked around 4am on my way to buy my produce in town. She sprinkles water at the shops door step before doing the same at the vending places and around the whole shopping area and this is the third time.
“We suspect she is using juju to take people’s money. She looks normal during the day and we always spend the whole day with her at the shopping centre. She is into the firewood business, but what becomes of her at night is shocking,” said maMoyo .
Another resident said:
“I suspect the woman is being used by evil spirits subconsciously. She should be evicted from this community.
“She has been seen several times walking around half-naked, at times stark naked carrying a bowl of water, which she sprinkles around people’s vending stalls. We are now living in fear of this woman. She is up to no good. She needs to be questioned and assisted or needs some prayers.”
Efforts to get a comment from Bulawayo police spokesperson, Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo were fruitless.
