Several companies have chipped to support the Chipaz soccer tournament that will be held at Gwanzura Stadium on February 20 featuring various musicians.
Dubbed “Chipaz Bhora”, it is a soccer tourney involving musicians, footballers and promoters with some of the funds from the event being channelled to charity.
In an interview, Patson Chimbodza who organises the event said they were happy that various organisations have come aboard.
“It is a great endorsement to the tournament and we are happy that this year it will be bigger and better,” he said.
Chimbodza said the coming in of companies has shown their interests in seeing the idea growing.
He said they have not yet identified the beneficiaries of this year’s match.
“We are still in the process to look for those who will benefit from the match but that will not take much time even after the match has been played,” he said.
To show that they the event is not only concerned with people in Harare Chipaz has engaged newly promoted team Ngezi Platinum FC that will be playing against CAPS United before the big match of sungura musicians playing against dancehall musicians.
“This is not for the people here in Harare but for every one who is in Zimbabwe,” said Chimbodza.
There will be a musical show after the match that will involve several musicians.
Already Oliver Mtukudzi, Alick Macheso, Mathias Mhere, Charles Charamba, Jah Prayzah, Peter Moyo and Shinsoman among others will be performing at the after match event.
“People will just pay once for the two events. We will not separate them because we want to celebrate the whole day,” he said.
Chimbodza believes the event will be a successful as all the parties involved have already committed themselves to it.
“Everyone involved has already shown commitment to the event a move that gives us hope,” he said.
Journalists from the print media will also play against their electronic media counterparts on the day.
