FIRST Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa has donated various seed varieties to the Zanu PF Harare provincial Women’s League as part of her support for empowerment and food security initiatives.

More than 3 000 members received an assortment of seeds from the mother of the nation’s unwavering compassion and motherly care. She handed over cow peas, sorghum and sugar beans seeds.

The gesture is a testament of Dr Mnangagwa’s deep-rooted commitment to uplifting communities and reflects her vision in championing food security, women’s empowerment and traditional nutrition through her widely celebrated Traditional Gastronomy Programme.

Handing over the seed varieties at Raylton Club in Harare yesterday, Women’s League Secretary for External Affairs Cde Betty Nhambu-Kaseke, who represented the First Lady said the initiative was in keeping with the of leaving no one and no place behind.

“The main message I have for women in Harare is that they must work as a team to realise their efforts in whatever they do,” said Cde Nhambu-Kaseke.

She said the First Lady wants women to put their pieces of land to good use and eventually urged women to prepare traditional dishes for their families.

The distributed seeds are known for promoting healthy eating, which aligns with Dr Mnangagwa’s vision under her Gastronomy Programme, which champions nutrition and traditional food systems.

Zanu PF Harare Women’s League chairlady Cde Babra Mwale was equally grateful to the mother of the nation’s benevolence.

“We are so happy that the First Lady is helping us as Harare Province.

“Her programmes are helping us as the Women’s League to transform our lives. She has championed a number of empowerment programmes for us,” said Cde Mwale.

Some beneficiaries applauded the First Lady, describing her as a true mother and a leader who inspires and uplifts generations.

Mrs Joyce Tumbare expressed gratitude to the First Lady for her generosity.

“We are truly grateful to our mother, Dr Mnangagwa, for remembering us. This is a Christmas gift. We really appreciate,” she said.

Mrs Catherine Dzapasi weighed in, saying Dr Mnangagwa’s support encourages women to be productive and self-reliant.

“We thank her for leading by example,” she said. Mrs Eneres Chigwana of Epworth thanked the mother of the nation for remembering women during the festive season.

“This gesture shows that she cares deeply about our welfare. With these seeds, we will grow healthy food and support our households.

“May God bless our First Lady for her kindness,” said Mrs Chigwana.
