Fishermen robbed

TWO fishermen were robbed of 180kg of dried kapenta at gunpoint by three men who pounced on them while fishing at night along the Zambezi River in Binga.

No arrests have been made so far and police are still looking for the suspects.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed receiving the report.

“Two men were robbed while fishing at night along the Zambezi River near Siabuwa, Binga.

“The three unidentified suspects jumped into their rig and robbed the duo of 6x30kgs of dried kapenta at gun point.

“Police investigations are in progress to establish the truth and possibly arrest the culprits,” he said.

Meanwhile, police also recorded armed robbery cases involving individuals and carjackings during the weekend in separate incidents.
