THIS is about much more than crossing a finish line.
Tomorrow (Saturday), hundreds of women are expected to take to Mutare’s undulating streets and scenic terrain for the inaugural The Manica Post Diamond FM Ladies Fun Run, an event designed not only to promote fitness, but also to create opportunities for social interaction, networking and personal empowerment.
Starting at 6am from Mutare Sports Club, participants will compete in 5km, 10km and 21km races under the theme: “Queens Move.”
The event is expected to bring together women from different backgrounds for a day centred on health, wellness and community building.
Participants can begin collecting their race packs today (Friday) at The Manica Post Building in Mutare’s Central Business District. Organising committee spokesperson, Eunice Sibanda, said the event seeks to inspire women to embrace healthy lifestyles beyond race day.
“We are looking forward to seeing women who remain physically fit long after the event. Through this initiative, we want to cultivate a lasting culture of wellness and good health among women.
“Beyond the physical benefits, the fun run will provide a platform for participants to connect, exercise and celebrate together. It will help build friendships, strengthen networks and promote a sense of unity and cooperation among women,” said Sibanda.
She said the event also offers women an opportunity to take a break from the demands of everyday life and focus on their own wellbeing.
“This is a chance for women to step away from their daily responsibilities, refresh, recharge and prioritise themselves while interacting with other like-minded women,” she said. Adding excitement to the programme, newly established world-class fitness facility Invictus Gym, together with Coach Vikki, will lead participants through energetic Zumba and aerobics sessions, ensuring that the day offers something for everyone, regardless of fitness level.
The event has attracted strong corporate support from a number of organisations, including Doves Financial Services, Fawcett Security, Mutare City Council, Hello Paisa, Manica Boards and Doors, Wattle Company, Skyview Hotel, Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS), Liquid Home, Delta Beverages and Invictus Group.
