Romeo Mabhunu (28) of Tynwald South, Tafadzwa Isaac, Shadreck Mutasa, Godfrey Mutamba and Collin Phiri- all of Dzivaresekwa – were arrested on Tuesday by police from Mabelreign Police Station.
They then led the police to where they kept seven plasma television sets, a Sony Hi-Fi radio, a Dell computer and a refrigerator.
Some of the gadgets had been sold while others were recovered from Mutamba and Phiri, who are believed to be receivers of stolen property.
The two were arrested at a building popularly known as The White House at the corner of Cameroon and Albion streets where they were operating from.
Investigations have so far revealed that the five had been breaking into several houses in Mabelreign, Westgate, Tynwald North and surrounding areas.
Mabhunu was the first to be arrested, leading to the arrest of the other four suspects and recovering of the property.
Police were yesterday still carrying out investigations and recovering more property which had been sold to various people in the city.
Police have urged people who lost property to housebreakers to contact them and help in identifying the goods.
Police warned people against buying any property, especially after suspecting that it could have been stolen, as they would also be charged as accomplices.
Cases of housebreaking and theft have been on the decrease following the arrest of some of the notorious criminals who were raiding people’s homes at night.
