Five Tsholotsho councillors suspended

THE Minister of Local Government and Public Works Daniel Garwe has suspended five Tsholotsho Rural District Councillors following an investigation by a committee appointed by the Minister.

The announcement was made on Friday during a full council meeting at Tsholotsho RDC offices by officials from the Ministry.

The suspended councillors are ward one councillor Witness Khumalo, Jabulani Sigagula (ward seven), Busani Vundla (ward six), Jabulani Ndlovu ward 10) and Felix Tshuma (ward 21).

The five face different charges which include criminal abuse of office and fraud among others.

The suspended councillors are expected to appear before an independent tribunal to respond to the charges.

Tsholotsho RDC Chief executive Officer Mr Nkululeko Sibanda confirmed the development.
“Yes there are five councillors who were suspended, that is what I can say on the matter,” he said
