Fling proves costly

woman he had hired for the night.

Morgan (25) – son of sungura legend Leonard Dembo – is accusing the woman of easy virtue, Beauty Bvumbe (24) of smashing his car with a brick shattering the windscreen. Bvumbe faces a charge of malicious damage to property. Bvumbe was not formally charged when she appeared before magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma who remanded her on free bail to August 16 this year.

As part of her bail conditions Bvumbe was ordered to continue residing at the given address and not to interfere with State witnesses.
The State, led by Prosecutor Mr Chrispen Mavengano, alleges that sometime in July, Dembo met the woman at City Sports Bar, corner Kaguvi and Raleigh Street in Harare.

It is the State’s case that Morgan hired Bvumbe for overnight services. The two allegedly spent a night at Morgan’s friend’s house and the woman left the following morning. Bvumbe, it is alleged later realised she had lost her cell phone.

On July 25, the State says Morgan and Bvumbe bumped into each other at City Sports Bar and the later asked about the cell phone she had lost at his friend’s house.
It is alleged that Morgan told Bvumbe that he had reported the matter to the police.

He then asked her to accompany him to the police station since she was needed as the owner of the stolen property (cell phone). It is then that Bvumbe asked Morgan to wait for her while she went inside the bar to collect her bag, it is alleged.

While in the bar, Bvumbe allegedly heard Morgan start the car engine.
She stormed out and started shouting at Morgan accusing him of wanting to leave her behind.

She allegedly picked up half a brick and smashed the front windscreen. Morgan reported the matter at Harare Central police station leading to Bvumbe’s arrest.
The damage to the windscreen was put at US$80.
