ZIMBABWE has taken a giant leap in drone technology! The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) has awarded Drone University a drone maintenance training certificate, making it the first institution in the country to receive such recognition.
The certificate, officially called the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Maintenance Training Approved Training Organisation (RMT ATO), marks another milestone in Zimbabwe’s growing drone industry.
Drone University CEO Jeremiah Musabayana said the recognition reflects the team’s determination to push boundaries.
“This speaks to a belief in ourselves as Zimbabweans. We’ve challenged the status quo and set standards not yet attained locally,” he said.
Head of Training Nokuthula Madzvova said the university is proud to be leading innovation in the fast-changing world of drone technology.
“We were the first drone training school fully licensed by CAAZ in 2021 and the first to offer Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) courses in 2022,” she said.
BVLOS training allows pilots to fly drones without direct visual contact, opening doors to advanced operations.
To date, Drone University has trained and certified over 700 professional drone pilots, proving that Zimbabwe’s drone dreams are ready for takeoff!
