Food poisoning incident in Mashava claims two, 11 in hospital

POLICE are investigating an incident in which two children lost their lives yesterday in the Mashava area.

In a statement, national police spokesperosn, Commissioner Paul Nyathi said 14 others – seven adults and four children – are critically ill after a traditional beer ceremony.

During the ceremony, families gathered to enjoy sadza, mahewu and traditional beer.

However, shortly after the feast, some began to experience severe stomach pains.

Two minors, aged just three and seven, died.

As of now, four children and seven adults are in critical condition at Masvingo General Hospital. Additionally, three others are receiving treatment at Mashava Clinic.
