Anas, who plays for South African top flight side Free State Stars, gave a bizarre explanation for his slip of the tongue after his team drew 2-2 with Ajax Cape Town last Friday night. Anas was so happy with his man-of-the-match award that he thanked both his wife AND his girlfriend.
He then backtracked in the most grovelling of ways – repeating over and over again how much he loves his wife.
The Ghanaian striker – who not only scored twice on the pitch, has apparently done so off it – said: “I appreciate my fans, my wife and my girlfriend.
“I mean my wife! Sorry to say, I’m so sorry, my wife.“I love you so much. I love you so much from my heart.”But now he has dug himself an even deeper hole with his bizarre explanation for the gaffe which has gone viral.
And he did not seem concerned about the reaction of his wife, who has been with for seven years.
He said: “My family knows that I call my daughter my girlfriend. That’s what I was talking about. I don’t have a girlfriend.
“I love her so much. She’s given me two beautiful children. — The Sun
