A 17-YEAR-old boy from Emganwini in Bulawayo allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl after jumping the pre-cast into her yard and dragging her into the house.
The boy, doing Form Three at Emganwini High School appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Mr Chrispen Mberewere facing a charge of rape last week. He was remanded out of custody to 11 October for application of discharge.
The court heard that on 2 May, the boy went to the juvenile’s home and jumped over the wall into the yard where the complainant was washing clothes outside.
The boy then kissed the girl who pushed him away. He then grabbed her and dragged her into her house which was open and into the bedroom where he pushed her onto the bed. The accused then stripped the girl and raped her once without protection. After the act, he warned the complainant not to tell anyone and went away. She, however, told other pupils and a senior teacher who helped her report the case. One of the pupils testified in court.
She said she came to know about the issue after she met the girl at the school car park.
“I met the girl at the car park where she told me that she had been raped and she said the incident occurred at her home. She started crying and I didn’t know how to help her so I then referred her to the teacher,” she told the court. A medical report and an affidavit written by the pupil were produced in court as evidence.
