A VICE headboy at a private school here has been expelled for allegedly sodomising other students at the school.
The Form Four student is accused of allegedly targeting some Form One and Form Two students.
“I am still in a state of shock from what happened,” a student told H-Metro.
“I never thought he would do such a thing.”
Another student added:
“Pachikoro pedu pakutotyisa nenyaya iyi. Hatina kutarisira kuti zvinhu zvakadai zvingaitika pachikoro.”
A parent, who requested not to be identified, said such incidents are a nightmare for both the students and the parents.
“Such kind of incidents can damage the reputation of the school, “ he said.
Another parent added:
“The school should strengthen safeguarding policies and supervision, “ she said.
The principal of the academy, identified only as Mr Nkomo, told H-Metro, that they launched investigations and reported to their parent Ministry and the police after expelling the student.
“In my view, we followed due process. We have nothing to hide.
“We informed the victims’ parents who came to the school for face-to-face talk.
“ZRP officers also interviewed the parents. Everything was done above board.”
He added:
“Since last week, we have been engaging learners, at times with invited church pastors and professional counsellors.
“Removing the predator from the school was the best thing to do.
“We also advised the children to be wary of anyone luring them into secluded places.”
The district education inspector said he was not in office to comment on the case.
