Former Black Aces defender Gweredza dies

died yesterday morning at Parirenyatwa Hospital after a long illness.
He was 55.

Gweredza burst onto the local soccer scene in the late 1970s when he joined Black Aces where he played as a rightback after the retirement of former Zimbabwe international defender Fresh Chamarengah.
At “Shaisa Mufaro”, Gweredza rubbed shoulders with the likes of Boniface “Keegan” Makuruzo, Brenna Msiska and Brighton Dzapasi.

He is survived by his wife Julia and six children — three sons Edgar, George and Isaac, and three daughters Agnes, Tanyaradzwa and Charity.

Funeral arrangements were yet to be finalised by late last night.
Mourners are gathered at No. 3729 Old Highfield in Harare.
