Former deputy minister Chapfika buried

ZANU PF Central Committee member and former Finance Deputy Minister Cde David Chapfika, who died on June 19, was buried in Mutoko yesterday.

Cde Chapfika died when his vehicle was involved in a traffic accident along the Harare-Shamva Road.

He was 68.

Cde Chapfika was buried at his rural home in Chindenga Ward 1, Chapfika Village, Mutoko. Thousands gathered to pay their last respects to the former legislator for Mutoko North constituency.

In recognition of his contributions to nation-building, the Government granted him the status of a liberation hero. Senate president Mabel Chinomona paid tribute, praising Cde Chapfika’s unwavering commitment to the development of Mutoko.

She urged the community to remain united and uphold the spirit of progress that he exemplified, while encouraging the bereaved family to stay strong. Mutoko District Committee Coordinator Cde Richard Musiiwa expressed ZANU PF’s deep loss, describing Cde Chapfika as a dedicated and hardworking cadre.

“He was a man who loved everyone. We mourn with his family and the nation during this difficult time,” he said.
