Former Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Nicholas Goche’s son has died. Cde Goche’s son, whose name was also Nicholas, reportedly died in South Africa last week after collapsing at his apartment.
There were reports yesterday on social media implying it was the former zanu-pf secretary for transport in the Politburo who had died.
A close family member who preferred anonymity yesterday said Nicholas’s body would arrive in the country today.
“Burial arrangements will be announced in due course, but I can confirm that it is Cde Goche’s son who died after collapsing.
“Indications are that he fractured his skull after collapsing and he succumbed to injuries he sustained,” said the family member.
Unconfirmed reports also said Nicholas had been on kidney dialysis for sometime.
Cde Goche was last month suspended from zanu-pf for five years after being accused of being part of former Vice President Joice Mujuru’s cabal that was working to topple President Mugabe.
His health also took a battering as he spent the entire duration of the zanu-pf congress in the intensive care unit of a local private hospital, gravely ill, following what insiders say was hypertension.
