Former Nkayi South MP backs extension of Presidential term

Gibson Mhaka
Former Nkayi South legislator Stars Mathe has expressed support for the clause proposing the extension of the presidential term from five to seven years under the Constitutional Amendment (No. 3) Bill.

Speaking during public hearings held at Agape Hall in Nkayi Centre, Mathe said the proposed change would allow leaders adequate time to implement and complete key development projects.

Drawing from her legislative experience, she argued that the current five-year term is insufficient to see major capital projects through to completion.

“As a former Member of Parliament, I have the experience that five years is simply not enough. I have many projects that I left unfinished. Extending the term allows a leader enough time to push and complete critical development projects for the benefit of the people,” she said.
