Four caught smuggling cars in Plumtree

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the arrest of four suspects believed to be a motor vehicle smuggling syndicate operating at the Plumtree border post.

Police arrested the four, David Mazarire (22), Ndumiso Mudenda (36), Norman Farai Nhunge (31) and Peter Ndlovu (20) while conducting an anti-smuggling motorised patrol. The four were caught smuggling two Honda Fit vehicles and a Toyota Vits through an undesignated entry point at Nswazi area in Madlambudzi.

Mazarire and Mudenda were intercepted at the 43 kilometre peg along the Bulawayo – Plumtree road while driving a Honda Fit vehicle with foreign number plates while Nhunge was intercepted at the 17 kilometre peg along the same road, whilst driving a Toyota Vitz vehicle also with foreign number plates.

Ndlovu was intercepted at the 17 kilometre peg along the Bulawayo-Plumtree Road whilst driving a Honda Fit vehicle.

“The suspects had no Temporary Import Permits and vehicle registration books for the vehicles and are currently in custody assisting police with investigations,” national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said.–New Ziana
