Four joint top goalscorers in Southern Region D1

FOUR players sit jointly on top of the Zifa Southern Region Division One top goal scorers’ list with five goals each.

Tinotenda Chitsetse from Emakhandeni Pirates and the trio of Lameck Mafu, Ryan Ncube, Ricardo Sibanda from Mountain Climbers, Mosi Rovers and Arenel respectively have all found the back of the net five times.

ZPC Hwange’s Justine Kaunda is not far behind with four goals. Leroy Ndlovu from Arenel and the Adachi duo of Brian Ndlovu and Nathaniel Moyo sit on three goals. Same as Mediator Mabhena and Tylon Nkiwane who play for Casmyn and Mainline respectively.

Last season, the league’s top scorer was Stanson Khanye who scored 19 goals.

Arenel maintained their place at the top of the log with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Ratanang.

Brian Jaravaza scored a brace while Ricardo Sibanda, Leroy Ndlovu, Stanson Khanye provided a goal each in the demolition.
The victory took their points’ tally to 26.

ZPC Hwange in second place also picked up a crucial three points after recording a two-nil victory over Main Line. They are on 24 points.

Third-placed Talen Vision also managed a 1-0 victory over Ajax Hotspurs at the White City B-Arena.
They now stand at 21.

Arenel finished third last season, behind league winners Hwange FC and ZPC Hwange. They also managed to book a place in the final of the Wafa Wafa knockout competition which they lost on penalties to Hwange.

The side won the provincial independence Day Cup Trophy in April after getting over Indlovu Iyanyathela.
They will face strong competition for pole position from the likes of Adachi and ZPC Hwange.

Elsewhere, Zimbabwe Saints failed to pitch up for their encounter against Mosi Rovers in Victoria Falls.
It is the second time this season they have failed to fulfil a fixture.
