In a shocking incident that has left the local community reeling, four kombis belonging to prominent transport operator Nkosilathi Ncube were vandalised at his business premises in Nkulumane.
The kombis were vandalised, windows broken and tyres slashed.
The vandalised kombis were discovered early this morning by Ncube’s wife, Patience Nkomo Ncube.
Witnesses reported seeing unknown assailants descending on the business premise and ruthlessly attack the kombis.
A neighbour who preferred to remain anonymous shared their concerns, stating, “No one knows the cause of the attack. Many of us suspect that this attack on Nkosilathi’s business might be linked to his political activities as a member of the Zimbabwe African National Congress. It’s troubling to think that his political stance could lead to such violence.”
The incident has sparked fears among local residents, who are now questioning the safety of their own businesses in light of the attack.
Ncube’s reputation as a dedicated member of the opposition party has made him a target for various political tensions in the area.
Bulawayo’s acting police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele , confirmed that their team responded to the attack and is currently investigating the cause.
“We handled the case promptly and are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident. At this stage, we cannot speculate on the cause until our investigation is complete,” Msebele stated.
As investigations continue, the community is left grappling with the implications of this incident, raising concerns about safety and political motivations in a time of heightened tensions.
