BULAWAYO police have arrested four men in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 55-year-old Iminyela resident following an altercation after a night of drinking in the suburb last Sunday.

The suspects — Washington Ncube (20), Tapiwa Dube (21), Misheck Tshabalala (21) and Brian Ncube (26), all of Iminyela suburb — are facing murder charges in connection with the death of Mlamuli Khumalo.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the now-deceased and the suspects had been drinking together before a misunderstanding broke out.

“The deceased, Mlamuli Khumalo (55), was drinking beer with the accused persons when a misunderstanding arose over an undisclosed issue,” said Insp Msebele.

“One of the accused produced a sharp object and stabbed the deceased once on the head before all the suspects fled the scene.”

Khumalo was rushed to hospital following the attack, but succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Insp Msebele condemned the incident and appealed to members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully.

“We urge members of the public to desist from using violence when resolving disputes and to seek amicable ways of settling differences to avoid unnecessary loss of life. We also warn members of the public against carrying dangerous weapons in public places,” she said.

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for suspects linked to the theft of a vehicle at a car  park in Magwegwe West suburb.

Insp Msebele said the theft occurred on Sunday, when a 37-year-old man from Magwegwe West parked his silver Honda Fit (old shape) at a local car park and left it in the custody of security guards.

“The following morning, the complainant discovered that his vehicle was missing. Security guards advised that they last saw the vehicle when it was parked the previous night, and a police report was subsequently made,” she said.

Police are appealing to members of the public with information that may lead to the recovery of the vehicle or the arrest of the suspects to report to the nearest police station.
