Four perish, 13 injured in Munhenzva bus accident

Four people have been confirmed dead, while 13 others were seriously injured in a road accident when a South Africa-bound Munhenzva bus overturned near Rutenga Growth Point yesterday.

The Cape Town-bound bus, which was carrying 27 people, including the crew, overturned and landed on its roof after the driver reportedly lost control about 10 km from Rutenga on the Masvingo-Beitbridge highway around 6 pm.

Three people died at the accident scene as they were among those trapped under the bus. The fourth person died at Neshuro District Hospital from injuries sustained in the crash.

The thirteen who were injured are admitted to the same hospital and are in a critical condition.

Masvingo Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa said the National Police Spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi will issue a statement regarding the crash.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been revealed as their next of kin are still to be informed.
